1st Semi Final
Queensland Firebirds v Northern Mystics
The Queensland Firebirds moved one step closer  to a second ANZ Championship premiership when they were crowned Australian Conference champions with a 55-44 win over the NSW Swifts in last Sunday’s Australian Conference Final. Over 5000 people watched the Firebirds for what was a new record crowd for games played in Brisbane. In four finals played at home, the Firebirds are unbeaten, including the previous finals encounter against the Mystics back in 2011 where history was created as the ANZ Championship trophy went to Queensland for the first time. While in finals games it’s a whole new ball game, what counts against the Mystics is that they have lost eight of their past nine games in Australia and also the fact that they have conceded 53.7 goals per game this season compared to 46.6 for the Firebirds. 2nd Semi Final

Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic v NSW Swifts

Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic have a chance to represent New Zealand in next week’s ANZ Championship Grand Final with a home semi final against the NSW Swifts looking to rebound after a 55-44 Australian Conference Final loss to the NSW Swifts. One of the shining lights for the Magic this season has been English international shooter Jo Harten, who is just 16 goals shy of 500 for season 2015 at 87 per cent accuracy. For the Swifts, how defender Sharni Layton performs will definitely have a bearing on just whether or not her team wins but also her selection in the Australian team for the upcoming Netball World Cup. Magic are New Zealand’s best performed team across competition history, having made the finals every year since the competition commenced back in 2008 and tasted premiership success in 2012 with a 41-38 win over Melbourne Vixens. Despite this, I’m tipping the Swifts to just get over the line to make it another all Australian Grand Final.  Swifts by 4
