Nut Gurus

Try Line Picks: Round 26

Raiders - Line: 5.00 Bet Units: The Raider will win this with ease; the worst attacking team in the comp, the Dragons, put 38 points on them last week. The match up is a complete mismatch based on recent form - since Round 22 the Raiders are averaging 1506 metres per game, the Warriors 1100 metres; the Raiders miss 37 tackles a game, the Warriors miss 49; the Raiders are making only 8.50 errors per game [best in NRL in this period], the Warriors over 12 per game; the Raiders completing sets at 79.75%, the Warriors at 69.25%. The Warriors spine this week is abysmal, their defence again will struggle to hold out the outside backs of the Raiders, in particular Fergurson and Croker. The Warriors also struggle to diffuse kicks and McCrone has been on song in this area. Momentum is hard to stop both ways, the Warriors are the most unfit team in the NRL and the Raiders full of self belief. The home ground is misleading the market, the Raiders will cover this line quickly and race away (-4.5 to -6.5)

Making the Nut enters the Space Age

You either follow Making the Nut on Twitter, and 'like' us on Facebook, or you are with the terrorists. It’s a simple proposition all true Making the Nut readers will respect and honour.

The Directors of Making the Nut are nothing if not hip and down with the times. We know all about ‘break dancing’ and ‘lasers’. We’ve got Velcro on our shoes. We pass the dutchie on the left hand side. We drive Segways. We also know about the future. In the future, ‘Twitter' will be invented so illiterate people can communicate with each other, and Facebook will become a mechanism so superlative at interconnecting you with the world that you’ll never need to physically interact with anyone ever, ever again. Well dear readers, the future is here.

Our facebook page is like the rest of Facebook, only interesting. We often have guest appearances from Will Ferrell, Randy ‘Macho Man’ Savage, and the ‘Most Interesting Man in the World’. Our Twitter feed is @MakingTheNut

Join us in the future. Or feel the wrath of our strike drone in your little village in Afghanistan. The choice is yours.

A Rivalry for the Ages

By Andrew McKenzie

Another Australian Open has been run and won. New heights in standard were reached, in what was a fantastically exciting tournament. At least in the men’s section that is. The women’s final turned out to be another anti-climax mirroring previous years. This would certainly be of some concern for tournament organisers.

The Footy Almanac: Channelling Tricky

I was born into an Aussie Rules family and growing up on an aboriginal mission in central Australia I was totally unaware of the existence of Rugby League for the first ten years of my life.
