Saturday August 3

Moonee Valley (tips based on a track rating range of good 2 to dead 5)

Race 4 No. 4 Bia Diamond

  • Sticking with her given that her last start fourth was forgivable (she was posted wide in running on a heavy track), 9 starts for 3-5-0 when third-up or further into a campaign, 4 starts for 2-2-0 at the mile, drawn to get an easy run in transit from gate 1.

Race 5 No. 3 Streets Of Seattle

  • Improves with racing (12 starts for 0-4-0 when first or second-up, 34 starts for 9-5-4 thereafter), last start winner at Flemington, 1 win from 2 previous starts at the track/ trip, stays down in the weights (2 kilos below the limit after the claim), always partial to sticking with in-form staying mares.

Race 6 No. 4 Clanga’s Glory

  • Excellent when second to Magnifique Soleil in the Winter Championship final, backed that up with a win at Flemington 2 weeks ago, now 8 starts at the mile for 4-1-1, a number of his rivals here are 4 or 5 weeks between runs.

Race 8 No. 7 Sir Fernando

  • Another who improves with racing (8 starts for 1-4-0 when first or second-up, 5 starts for 2-2-0 thereafter), 2 wins from 4 starts at the track/ trip (1 of the unplaced runs was first-up), forgive his last start when second-up on a heavy track, drawn barrier 1.

Rosehill (tips based on a track rating range of good 2 to dead 5)

Race 3 No. 2 Altius

  • Half-brother to Elvstroem and Haradasun who has had 2 recent trials to prepare for this resumption, goes well fresh (5 starts for 3-1-1 when first or second-up, 6 starts for 1-2-0 thereafter, 5 starts at Rosehill for 2-1-1, won at BM90 level last campaign, drawn gate 2 and carrying only 55.5 kilos after the claim.

Doomben (tips based on a track rating range of good 2 to dead 5)

Race 7 No. 2 Gundy Son

  • For all the same reasons I tipped him a couple of weeks ago (before he was scratched). His form through the Listed Chief De Beers Handicap and Group 3 Healy Stakes is the best in this field, forgive his Ramornie Handicap run where he blew the start, 4 starts at the track/ trip for 1-1-1, strong speed is likely which will suit his run-on style.
