Saturday June 22

Flemington (tips based on a track rating range of dead 4 to slow 7)

Race 2 No. 9 Police Gazette

  • Lightly raced imported stayer who has 9 career starts for 2-4-2, recently beat Outback Joe by 5.3 lengths when conceding him 1.5 kilos (the favourite Cooldini subsequently beat the same horse by 3.8 lengths when in receipt of 2 kilos), Outback Joe also recently beat Final Folly by 3.6 lengths which ties his form through Smarty Mac, gets onto the limit weight for the first time in Australia.

Race 5 No. 8 Another Prelate

  • Two excellent runs back so far this preparation, has only missed the placings once in his last 8 starts overall , meets That’s The One 2 kilos better for being beaten 1.2 lengths last start, tends to improve with racing (16 starts for 2-5-2 first and second-up, 26 starts for 5-8-2 thereafter).

Randwick (tips based on a track rating range of slow 6 to heavy 10)

Race 4 No. 8 Soledad

  • Loves it wet (9 starts for 4-2-3 on slow or heavy tracks, 10 starts for 0-4-1 on drier), races best fresh (8 starts for 3-2-2 when first or second-up, 11 starts for 1-4-2 thereafter), 8 starts for 2-2-2 at the trip, drawn nicely to race close to the speed.

Race 6 No. 4 Brian’s Honour

  • Another mudlark (10 starts for 4-1-1 on slow or heavy tracks, 16 starts for 1-7-0 on drier), ran a strong fourth in a BM95 on a dead track last start, drops back to BM85 and a likely wetter track here, his last 2 wins have come over this trip.

Race 7 No. 17 Classic Elle

  • Formerly raced in Melbourne and was twice stakes placed as a 3YO, has 4 starts at the trip for 2-0-2 (13 starts for 0-3-2 at all other distances), races best fresh (6 starts for 2-1-2 when first or second-up, 11 starts for 1-2-2 thereafter), won her only previous start on a slow track.

Eagle Farm (tips based on a track rating range of dead 4 to slow 7)

Race 8 No. 10 Benny’s Buttons

  • Last run was a complete ‘forgive’ effort when never on the track, has 5 starts at the distance for 1-2-0, his first-up form line through Griffon looks very strong for this race, 5 starts ago was beaten only 0.3 lengths by multiple Group-level winner Steps In Time when conceding her 2 kilos.
