Saturday February 8

Flemington (tips based on a track rating range of good 2 to dead 5)

Race 4 No. 8 Tackleberry

His first-up run was excellent when second to Solsay, 4 second-up runs to date for 3-1-0 (the loss was in a photo to Hai Lil), gets in 1.5 kilos under the limit after the claim, gate 14 no problem in a race down the straight.

Race 8 No. 2 Club Command

His two runs the other way of going (up in Queensland) were both sound, 15 career starts for 6-4-4 and a 4th placing, 9 starts at the trip for 4-1-4, 4 starts at the track/ trip for 2-1-1, beaten less than a length by Speediness at Listed level over this trip 5 starts ago.

Rosehill (tips based on a track rating range of good 2 to dead 5)

Race 6 No. 2 Steps In Time

Her preferred distance is definitely 1200 metres (7 starts for 4-1-1 at this trip, 16 starts for 4-0-1 at all other trips),won this very race 2 years in a row beating Red Tracer on both occasions, 2 solid trials leading into this first-up tilt.

Race 8 No. 1 Dee’n’gee

The form lines this prep to date through Dances On Stars and Emblems at Listed level look excellent for a BM85 race, didn’t win last prep but was placed behind Velrosso and subsequently Boban (giving weight  to each of them), drawn gate 1 so should have an easy time getting into a spot handy to the lead.

Morphettville (tips based on a track rating range of good 2 to dead 5)

Race 6 No. 1 Esprit De Bullet

Lumped with 61 kilos here but has already won this prep with 59 kilos at Moonee Valley and 60 kilos at Flemington, 10 starts at the trip for 5-0-1, drops back significantly in grade from his last run at Listed level, strong speed is likely which will suit his run-on style.

Race 7 No. 7 Chieftain Jack

Putting a form line through Caton’s last 4 runs (beaten twice by Differing Fortunes and once by Chieftain Jack) suggests that he’s well in at the weights with a 2-kilo advantage over Differing Fortunes, won his last 2 starts in the 1950-2050 metre range, 19 starts for 5-7-3 in his career nce you subtract first-up efforts.
