Saturday March 8

Flemington (tips based on a track rating range of good 2 to dead 5)

Race 4 No. 7 Are There Any

Beat the boys over 1700 metres at this track last start, meets Five All 7 kilos better (and Text’n Hurley 1 kilo better) for a blanket three-way finish at the start prior over this distance, 7 starts for 3-1-2 on good-rated tracks, can position handy to the lead from barrier 1.

Race 6 No. 8 Pago Rock

8 of the last 9 Newmarket winners have come through the Group 1 Lightning stakes, where he ran 4th, meets Shamexpress 3 kilos better for finishing 1.7 lengths behind him, meets Samaready 5 kilos better for finishing 0.7 lengths behind her, meets Unpretentious at level weights for beating him home (but is twice the odds!).

Race 8 No. 9 Stipulate

Only Australian run was in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (beaten only 4 lengths), meets a clearly inferior field to that race here, his last European start was a second at Group 2 level over this trip behind Asfare, 5 first-up starts for 2-2-0, SWP nature of this race sees him get in on the 55 kilo limit.

Warwick Farm (tips based on a track rating range of good 2 to slow 7)

Race 4 No. 3 Fire Up Fifi

Motored home late when first-up over 1200 metres carrying 59 kilos, last time second-up she won at Flemington over this distance at Group 2 level (beating Catkins), subsequently ran 3rd behind Red Tracer and Catkins in the Group 1 Myer Classic, 17 starts for 8-3-0 on rain-affected ground.

Race 6 No. 5 Spurtonic

Beaten only 0.6 lengths in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap last spring, goes well fresh (6 starts for 3-1-0 first or second-up, 8 starts for 2-2-0 thereafter), beaten only 2.2 lengths in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes despite dropping from 2000 metres to 1600 for that race, Group 3 winner last prep, can sit just off the speed and finish strongly.
