Try Line Picks – FREE Making the Nut Round 3 Selection

Eels – Line: 3.00 Bet Units: The Tigers form line is very poor, they are rating in the bottom third of all teams in most key areas – of major concern is lack of metres, penalties conceded and missed / ineffective tackles. Marshall and Farah will still play football and rate well, however Moltzen and Miller let the spine down as the former two are so dominant. Bar the impressive Woods and up and coming Buchanan the front-row rotation will struggle, with the back-row workmanlike. What has happened to Chris Lawrence? His efforts at the back-end of 2012 and early in 2013 are a concern. The Tigers were poor against an injury hit and average Pantehrs outfit and take on much better here in the Eels.

Momentum is huge, confidence is huge but fitness is the real indicator of the Eels and their early season football. They are not making as many errors, playing with nice structure in attack, and rating quite well – they are not a Top 8 side but they are rating and playing better than their Friday night opponents. The Eels prop rotation is quality in Mannah, Allgood, Moi Moi, and Lussick; the young second-row, in particular Ryan, is interesting and talented. Sandow is playing well – he simply is fit and confident; expect Hayne to have a real impact. The Dogs only just got the Eels last week in a low quality game, with the Eels defensive structure and goal-line defence looking and rating well.

The Tigers are false favourites, with the bookies looking for the public opinion money – albeit it at Campbelltown the Eels are ahead of the Tigers in the majority of key areas – take the Eels at the plus.

I hope this game once and for all allays fantasies that R. Stuart can coach. The longer he’s with a team, the worse they get. He seems to be quite a good fund raiser for charity and perhaps that’s his calling. Unfortunately, coaching at the NRL level is just not his go. Parra will stick by him until mid next year. By then, the Wanderers will have annihilated their supporter base and no one will care for a once mighty club. And rightfully so.
