Storm – Line: 5.00 Bet Units: The Storm are coming off 4 straight losses against the Bulldogs, Raiders, Cowboys and Eels; they are meeting a poor 2012 Dragons outfit. The key in this one is the "Big 3" back on the field, and for Bellamy's sake back on the field at the right time heading into the back-end of the year. The Storm forwards are labouring and have done so for the last month, even two – they rate only soundly with stand-outs Hoffman and Hinchcliffe, their bench rates exceptionally against the Dragons this week with the inclusion of Fa'aoso adding real impact. Smith and Cronk have been tireless but miss the anticipation and brilliance of Slater – even if he is only 70% fit it will be enough to lift the Storm back to the quality of football pre-Origin.
Another key man back is Chambers, he is a tower out wide in terms of defence and hole running – he will be better for the recent run. The Dragons have been terrible in the halves this year – Hornby has gone a year to long lacking real penetration in both his running and kicking game; Soward is their best player but struggling without a master-coach mentoring him. The Dragons spine (bottom 5 in rating) has been poor all year; individually Rein is great but is not working well with key men, Hornby & Soward have been previously mentioned, with the full-back issue not solved moving Nightingale back. The Dragons and Storm are both strong defensive sides (both top 3 rating), both well disciplined in errors and penalties conceded, with sound completions rates (both >75% in their last 4 games) – the key difference here is purely the ability of the Storm spine to score points and the coaching of Craig Bellamy. Bellamy will have his team well up for this game and a return to form before 2 home games against the Panthers and Titans – a real chance for 6 comp points in 3 weeks is there for the taking. Storm to cover the line (-4.5 to -6.5)
