Round 6 Tips (please note: all times are the local time for the home side)

Sunday April 5, 12:18 PM Firebirds v Thunderbirds

Bookmakers’ line: Firebirds -5.5

Ben says: The first game of the Easter round sees the Queensland Firebirds  and Adelaide Thunderbirds face off in Brisbane on Sunday. The Firebirds just got over the line against the NSW Swifts and the Thunderbirds just lost to a much improved West Coast Fever team, so both these teams are evenly matched heading into the round opener. It will be the 16th encounter between these two teams and while both occupy the bottom two places on the Australian conference ladder, that is no indication of how close this game will be. I’ve tipped the Firebirds to just get over the line in a game that could go right down to the wire. Firebirds by 6

Sunday April 5, 7:10 PM Magic v Mystics

Bookmakers’ line: Magic +1.5

Ben says: In the all New Zealand Easter Sunday clash, the Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic host the Northern Mystics in Rotorua. Sitting first (Mystics) and second (Magic) on the New Zealand conference ladder respectively, this is another game in round 6 that could go right down to the wire. Mystics by 4

Recommended bet: Nil

Monday April 6, 2:18 PM Fever v Vixens

Bookmakers’ line: Fever +0.5

Ben says: Fresh and ready to go after a bye, the Vixens make the trip to Perth to take on a rampaging West Coast Fever team that has had a superb start to this season. While there have been some standout performers, coach Stacey Rosman has the team playing a team oriented style of netball and it’s definitely working. In this game, the Fever will be defending the Challenge Trophy for the fourth time, but should the Vixens win they will defend it in round 7 against the Queensland Firebirds at home in Melbourne at Hisense Arena. While the Fever’s start to the season has been hard to ignore, I am tipping the Vixens to be dominate and keep a perfect winning record in Perth intact. Vixens by 12

Recommended bet: 1 unit on Vixens -0.5 at $1.98 (Sportsbet)

Monday April 6, 7:40 PM Tactix v Steel

Bookmakers’ line: Tactix +7.5

Ben says: Across competition history, the Steel have won 12 of the 15 clashes against Tactix by an average of 14 goals. While Tactix would be fresh coming off a bye, it’s simply been inconsistency that has dogged them once again and that’s even if they looked much improved during the first two or three games this season. The Steel have won a single game this season, but will totally outclass the Tactix in what could end up being a very one sided contest. Steel by 14

Recommended bet: 1 unit on Steel -7.5 at $1.88 (Sportsbet)
