Caulfield (tips based on a track rating range of dead 4 to slow 7)

Race 1 No. 1 Imoto

  • Forgive her last effort on an unsuitable heavy track, won her only start at this track/ trip 4 runs ago, 6 starts at the trip for 3-1-1, ran second to Dayita in open mares grade at this distance 2 starts ago.

Race 6 No. 9 Ajeeb

  • Won 2 out of 2 this campaign and 4 out of 6 overall, was favourite in the Group 1 Australian Guineas 3 starts ago when he led but failed to run out 1600 metres, taking the chance that Puissance De Lune isn’t fully wound up yet and the form out of the Bletchingly Stakes isn’t as good as it appears on paper, should lead from barrier 3.

Race 8 No. 15 Petite Diablesse

  • Couldn’t split her and You’re So Good when you assess their runs in the Group 3 Vanity Stakes (both edged out by Alzora) and their race times over 1200 metres prior to that, but this mare has a much better barrier, carries 1 less kilo and might be 3 times the price. What’s not to like?

Rosehill (tips based on a track rating range of good 2 to dead 5)

Race 8 No. 15 Punch Your Weight

  • His 2 runs this time in have both been sounds (running on strongly from the back of the field, much as Marden did), meets Marden 2 kilos better for beating him home last time, gets 5 kilos off Less Is More and 7 kilos off Travolta which could be telling at the end of 1800 metres, drawn well in barrier 3.

Doomben (tips based on a track rating range of good 2 to dead 5)

Race 6 No. 3 Mishani Warrior

  • Won for this column at $8SP/ $9 BOB last start (bless him), 6 starts at this trip for 4-0-2, won his only previous run at the track/ trip, while his last 2 wins were on slow and heavy ground he also has 8 starts on good track for 3-2-1, won 3 of his last 4 starts overall, drawn well in barrier 5.
