The Friday Fast Break: Week 12

Filed in Other by on December 23, 2011

Perth v New Zealand (Friday, Perth -5 to -5.5)
Once again the league-leading Breakers have been underestimated by bookmakers, getting 5.5 points in Perth despite riding a five-game win streak. The Breakers have been near unstoppable, going 4-2 on the road. Perth are only 3-2 at home. The Breakers won by 16 points when these two met last in the semi-finals last season. In what should be a physical game, Thomas Abercrombie’s ability from beyond the arc could prove the difference. Very keen on New Zealand.

Gold Coast v Adelaide (Friday, Gold Coast -6.5 to-7.5)
When these two met only four weeks back in Adelaide, the Blaze triumphed by 17. Gold Coast are finally getting it together, downing Perth.  Adelaide’s defence has been shaky at best this year and against the loosey-goosey offense of the Blaze, they could be in for a long night. The Blaze by plenty.

Melbourne v Cairns (Friday, Melbourne -4.5 to -6)
These two teams continue to screw me. I fancy the Cairns plus so the smart money will be on the Tigers thumping the Taipans. No bet.

Sydney v Townsville (Friday, Sydney -2 to -2.5)
This should be a nice game with the highlight no doubt the battle between centres Julian Khazzouh and Luke Schenscher. The Kings were no doubt distracted by Khazzouh’s NBA flirtations this week but he is a star. Combined with the Crocs’ ordinary road record, getting with the home team is the way to go.

Plays
New Zealand +5.5
Gold Coast -6.5
Sydney -2
