Waterhouse makes it 12 Melbourne Cup entrants

Gai Waterhouse’s Irish-born international Tres Blue has been added to November 5th’s list of potential Melbourne Cup starters as Melbourne cup entries closed yesterday.

As entries officially closed last week many thought Gai was done with her initial 11 including 2012 Melbourne Cup runner up Fiorente and the lightly-raced Michelangelo. However the addition of Tres Blue has intrigued spectators. The three year old boasts four wins from it’s ten starts in an impressive run of form for the Waterhouse pony.

Aside from Waterhouse’s additional entry, one other possible cup bolter includes Jake Stephen’s Chris Caro. Following a similar path to 2009 Melbourne Cup favourite Alcopop, Chris Caro is looking to take a second-tier path according to Stephens. Reported on SuperRacing, Chris Caro could follow “a similar path to Alcopop and try the JRA Cup”. Regardless we will certainly have our eyes peeled as the four-and-a-half year old turns to Melbourne for it’s next star.
