Round 11 Tips (please note: all times are the local time for the home side)
Sunday May 11, 11:48 AM Thunderbirds v Firebirds
Bookmakers’ line: TBC
Ben says: The Thunderbirds returned to the winners list after a five game losing streak against Fever at home in Adelaide last weekend. With three of the last four games at home, winning this game and the other two would be a great way to finish off what has become a disappointing one that began so strongly with three consecutive wins for them. Firebirds had a strong win at home over the Tactix and looking good for finals netball, with a six wins and four losses record to have them in third ladder position. This game could come down to how the Thunderbirds defensive duo of Rebecca Bulley and Kate Shimmin can shut down the information Firebirds shooting combination of Aiken/Wild. Bulley and goal attack Erin Bell missing out on Commonwealth Games selection will also act as motivation to help get the Thunderbirds up in a thriller. Thunderbirds by 3

Sunday May 11, 7:20 PM Tactix v Pulse
Bookmakers’ line: TBC
Ben says: After the controversy surrounding the Tactix win over the Mystics two weeks where they won due to what many in New Zealand called an incorrect umpiring call, were unable to overcome a strong Firebirds team at home in Brisbane despite looking good in patches, The Pulse pulled off one of the major upsets of this season, as they defeated a red hot Magic team by 10 goals. This augurs well for a Pulse that still have a realistic chance of playing finals, as they sit just aside the top four breathing down the necks of the Swifts. A win over the Tactix could even push their finals credentials even more. Pulse by 13

Monday May 12, 6:48 PM Fever v Swifts
Bookmakers’ line: TBC
Ben says: Netball moves to the Perth Arena on Monday night when the Fever hosts the Swifts at Perth’s newer large scale entertainment and sporting venue. It’s been the story of the Fever’s season this year, win some games but not others as inconsistency home and away, along with injury to star mid-courter Ashleigh Brazill have let them down. The inability to win games on the road was highlighted by the seven goal loss to the Thunderbirds in Adelaide last weekend. The Swifts had a season defining win over premiership favourites the Vixens after trailing by two goals at quarter time, so it puts them in good stead to win on the road in Perth come Monday night. Swifts by 8

Monday May 12, 7:40 PM Steel v Magic
Bookmakers’ line: TBC
Ben says: Magic are still the best performed New Zealand team in the ANZ Championship, but suffered something of a shock loss against the Pulse on Monday night. The Steel caused an upset as well by knocking off the the Mystics, in a further reflection of just how hard it has been their form and the competition in general. The Magic have two of their last four games on the road including this one and they will be too good for a Steel team that’s capable of pulling off an upset, but you never know what they will display on court from week to week. Magic by 7
