Saturday March 2

Flemington (tips based on a track rating range of good 2 to dead 5)

Race 3 No. 2 Glows

  • She resumes here and will be looking to add to an excellent first-up record of two wins and a second from three starts.
  • She has two wins and two seconds from six starts at the trip, and while her only previous go over 1100 metres at Flemington resulted in a fourth placing, she was beaten only 0.3 lengths in a Listed race.
  • She won at Listed level five starts ago, and the SWP nature of this race sees her well in at the weights.

Race 8 No. 1 Ready To Rip

  • His best races are invariable when fresh – four wins from five previous first-up runs, compared to two wins and two placings from five second-up runs, and only one win and four placings from 13 starts thereafter.
  • 1000 metres is also his ideal journey – three wins and a second from four starts, compared to four wins and five placings from 19 starts at other distances.
  • With a Group 3 WFA win and two Group 2 WFA placings (including a close second to Buffering) last preparation, he is the class galloper of the field.

Rosehill (tips based on a track rating range of dead 4 to slow 7)

Race 1 No. 3 Single

  • His first-up run at Rosehill appeared too bad to be true and his second-up effort at Warwick Farm to Havana Rey validated that theory. Havana Rey has since won again, so the form line is a strong one.
  • He has five wins from seven starts at Rosehill, including a win at Listed level.
  • He has two wins from three starts at the track/ distance combination.
  • He has four wins from six starts when third-up or further into a preparation (he is third-up in this race).

Race 3 No. 2 Pelicano

  • His form this preparation has been excellent. Prior to winning at both of his last two starts (the latter at Listed level in Adelaide), he ran a close second in the Ballarat Cup, splitting King Diamond and Exceptionally. Indeed, his only real ‘flop’ has been a fifth placing in the Werribee Cup, where he simply many not have run out the 2600 metres.
  • His overall record stands at seven wins and two placings from 14 races, including two wins from as many starts at this distance.

Race 7 No. 3 Lady’s Angel

  • She gave the leaders too great a head start when first-up in the Breeders’ Classic before running on into fourth placing behind her key rivals (Steps In Time and Red Tracer).
  • Importantly though, her second-up record (two wins and two placings from four starts) is a vast improvement on her first-up record (one win and no placings from five starts).
  • She two wins and a second from five starts at the distance, while her third-placing in last year’s Group 1 Galaxy Handicap shows that she’s up to this grade.
